Officially known as the Transit Hordern 6x2 - the dual rear axle Falcon Cab
Chassis has been developed by Transit Engineering in Bayswater, Melbourne -
with the assistance of specialist Ford Light Truck Dealers. With a maximum 2.8
metre tray able to be fitted - the vehicle has applications across a variety
of industries.
Transit Engineering
Transit Engineering was established over 25 years ago, and has grown to be well recognized for its quality and expertise in truck engineering. Transit is also one of Australia's largest truck chassis modifiers, and services most of the major truck manufacturers and/or their distributors in all states of Australia.
The range of modifications carried out include; wheelbase extensions and shortenings, fitment of lazy axles with either air or mechanical suspensions, conversion from mechanical to airbag suspension, fitment of dual steering, fitment of twin steer, tandem drive conversions, etc.
Transit was also heavily involved in the formation of VSB6 through CVIA of Victoria.
Transit has always been innovative in its response to the requirements of the transport industry.
Noel Rankin
Noel has been involved in both the automotive and engineering industries for the past 40 years. Noel was the founder of Transit Engineering in October 1973, and has been involved in the innovation of engine stranglers and transverse spare wheel carriers, plus other products including air bag suspension.
Ken Hordern
Ken has been involved in the transport industry for some 38 years after pursuing engineering studies at RMIT.
Ken joined Transit Engineering approximately 15 years ago and together with Noel has seen the business grow and maintain the quality and innovativeness of the company. Ken was involved with the Technical Subcommittee of the CVIAV to formulate the Heavy Vehicle Modification Code of Practice, which is now known as VSB6, for approximately 12 years.
Ken is a Recognized Engineering Signatory for heavy vehicles for Victoria.
